Information for Exhibitors


​​​Showcasing work by local artists and crafters, the Downley Art & Craft Show is a free to enter event and open to all, regardless of age or experience.

The show is supported by the Up! Downley Festival and run by volunteers. If you're able to assist the team for a couple of hours either by setting up the hall for the show, stewarding or dismantling, your help would be very welcome!

Please note, the show is not primarily a ‘selling’ show but if you would like to offer your work for sale, you'll find full details below.

Before submitting work to the show, please read the following Guidelines:

CATEGORIES:

DRAWING, PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHY AND 2D CRAFTS

  1. No larger than 24x24 inches
  2. Glazed work must have a solid frame - clip frames will not be accepted
  3. Work must be suitable for table top display on easels
  4. Work will not be displayed if it is considered unsafe to do so

3D CRAFTS - WOOD CARVING, SCULPTURE, CERAMICS, TEXTILES ETC

  1. Work must be suitable for table top display
  2. Work will not be displayed if it is considered unsafe to do so

POETRY/CREATIVE WRITING

  1. Work must be submitted in hard copy and mounted onto card or framed (clip frames will not be accepted)
  2. Work dimensions should be no larger than one A4 sheet
  • Four entries per person maximum in each category.
  • All entries must have the owner’s name, contact details and the title of the piece attached /stuck to the back of your piece. If your entry is for sale, please include  the price on the label.
  • Your exhibit/s must be available for display for the duration of the show.
  • All exhibits are submitted and hung at the owner’s risk. The organisers cannot take responsibility for damage or loss.
  • Copyright is retained by the owner, with reproduction rights given to the show organisers for publicity purposes.
  • Organisers have the final decision on which pieces of work are displayed where and how.
  • Junior Awards - Judges will choose their favourite piece in each category. All juniors will receive a certificate and the winner of each category will be posted on the website and Facebook page. The judges' decisions are final.
  • Adult Winner - Visitors to the show are invited to choose their favourite piece in the exhibition. The result will be posted on the website and Facebook page at the end of the show.
  • Items for Sale – If your work is for sale, please indicate this along with the price on the entry form and on the label on your entry. We will let you know the contact details of any potential buyer. You are then responsible for any sale/monies. Stewards are unable to accept money or make sales. No commission is taken but if you do make a sale at the show, we would appreciate a modest donation to the Up! Downley Festival funds which will benefit the local community.

KEY DATES FOR 2026

  • Complete an entry form HERE or pick up a paper copy from the Community Centre and post the completed form in the box in the lobby. Entry is free.
  • Entry deadline: Tuesday 23rd June
  • Handing in of work: Thursday 2nd July 5.30pm to 8.30pm at the Community Centre
  • Collection of work: Saturday 11th July 10am to 12 noon from the Community Centre
  • Public Viewing: Saturday 4th July 10am to 4pm : Sunday 5th July 11am to 4pm : Monday 6th - Friday 10th July 6pm to 8:30pm
